CFB Steamroller of the Week
Oklahoma State (-23) Noon ET ESPN
I am hoping that Notre Dame’s failure to cover in this role against Duke last week was more about the Blue Devils improvement. In any event, I expect a bounce back performance from our STEAMROLLER today. Tulsa has shown continuing mediocrity under 6th year HC Montgomery. Witness the 9-27 SU record L3Y. Over the years, they have been a perennial whipping boy for their local rival Oklahoma State. This year will be little different. As a defense that has allowed at least 30 PPG L4Y returns just 4 starters, they figure to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when facing this Cowboy team. Ok State ended last year with consecutive losses to Oklahoma and Texas A&M in their Bowl game. With 18 returning starters, this figures to be the most talented team ever for 16th year HC Gundy. The offensive trio of QB Sanders, RB Hubbard and WR Wallace figure to lead Ok State to a 40+ offensive season. BIG 12 Title could well come down to their Bedlam rivalry with Oklahoma. Note that while Tulsa has struggled with a COVID outbreak in late summer, Gundy enters this affair having covered 14 consecutive non-conference games.
